snowshoeing on the Swamp Trail

this is the part of snowshoeing
that I really enjoy..

being able to hike places,
you can not go in the spring/summer/fall months..

this is one of those trails..

it has a swamp running through it,
so it really hard to walk through
at anytime other than winter..

it's just off the main trail,
at the second bend..

this shot is looking back at the main trail
on the right
near the middle
 are some blackberry bushes

instead of turning,
and heading up the main trail
towards the Horse Pasture Loop,
I turned left, and headed off into the bush..
(from the picture above,
I turned  directly to the right)
.. there's a big hump I  have to get over first

Ron and Tyler had marked the trees
 with orange ribbons
a few years ago..

hard to see on this cellphone picture,
but there is a ribbon on the tree to the left
and another tree smack dab in the middle,
farther back, has a orange ribbon too..
very easy to spot them
when you are actually out there..

I wasn't snowshoeing very long,
before I could see the outer edge of the bush through the trees

passed by Tyler's old tree fort

coming out of the trail..
to the east of the garden
that is behind the trailers..

totally out of the bush now..

I stayed off where Ron had plowed the snow
(easier to snowshoe through deeper snow)
and I walked straight towards the garage,
and stopped behind the rail fence..
(feels odd being higher than the rail fence)

walked around the rail fence,
to where the grape vines are..

it was a great day for snowshoeing..

high was about 2C
overcast, so the sun wasn't blinding..
