Relaxing day... in Perce ..day 3

We relaxed today.  Drove around to see some sights.  What a gorgeous area!

Ronnie started his morning off great.. enjoyed his coffee while watching some fishermen hauling in their lobsters

We learned why the hotel manager posted this award upside down on the outside wall of the main entrance.  He was publically disagreeing with the award of 3 stars lol

We spent the day walking around meeting the locals.

Tourist season doesn't really kick off here until the end of June, so a lot of places are closed to the public.. still it is nice to walk around and meet people.  Such friendly people.  We learn about their ways of life here, and how the communities support each other throughout the winter.

From May to Oct, people work.  Through the wintertime, they collect EI and hunt. From Nov to April there is one hotel that stays open, one grocery store, the brewery keeps making beer (sells it at the grocery store and restaurant), and there is only 1 large tank for gas --close to the one restaurant that stays open for the winter -- and if you need gas people take their snowmobile to the tank and fill up those 10 litre tanks to take back to their car.

Most of the tourists in the winter are snowmobilers.... but not enough to need 2 hotels

Saw these whale watching tour boats at the dock... the little one is the kind we will be going out on this Wednesday morning.. can't wait 😃

This afternoon the weather was fantastic!  So very beautiful! We walked along the shoreline behind the hotel.  It was windy and cold.. but gorgeous!  Made me aware of how I have to add layers of clothing on, if I am going to be comfortable for 2.5 hours on the boat whale watching Wednesday morning.

We walked over 5 miles today.. time just flew by.  We met so many nice people.  And it warmed up to around 10 C, which was perfect for walking in the sunshine

We were told this beautiful church was open for viewing.... it wasn't 😔

We hit a lot of sovenier shops.. again, met wonderful people, shared some laughs, and spent some money

We were amazed at the deep colour of the water, once the clouds left today. Again.. we couldn't have asked for a better day.  So much fun, and beauty all around us

Tomorrow morning we are going to walk around this island... time of longest trail around the island takes an average of 3 hours to walk.  Challenge accepted!
