Quebec vacation ... day 2

Woke up around 6 am. (Sunday June 10)

Ron went for his morning walk, while I did my morning light therapy.

Cooler day today.  Temp was 6 C when we woke up.. only aiming for a high of 15 C today.  No sandles today.. warm socks and comfy running shoes.  My daughter and I swapped running shoe laces ... so everytime I see the purple lace, I think of her, and everytime she looks at her shoes and sees the pink lace she thinks of me

We went to Tim's for breakfast,  (the eggs and sausages looked very questionable that they served at the hotel breakfast) .. then we were on our way to Campbellton NB. It would take us about 3.5 hours ..down through Edmonston and then to Campbellton

When we stopped at the information centre at the border of New Brunswick, we spotted this in the parking lot.  I spoke with the owner, who said it was old Fire Guard truck from Austria!  They turned it into their camper!!

There were signs in the bathroom to remind everyone of the time change

Mom asked if we could stop by a graveyard there, and get some pictures of headstones where some of her family are buried.  We found the one she was looking for, and another one with the same last name but we aren't sure if they are related or not. It was cold and windy there!  Had to get our toques, and warm jackets on.. temp was around 11C

Then we went around to the street where she lived and I took pictures of the 5 houses on that street because I am not sure which house was hers.  Mom said it had 2 front doors, but with renovations over the years, none of them had 2 front doors.  I met the owner of one of the houses because she came over and asked why I was taking pictures of her house.  She gave me a run-down as to how old each house on the street might have been, as well as who lives in them.. but the longest resisdent has been there only 30 years --mom hasn't lived on this street for over 70, so the likelyhood of her knowing the people is very slim.

We also took pictures of the church she used to go to.

Then we went over the bridge and we were back in Quebec.  Never grasped how close Campbellton and Quebec were, even though mom had told me before.. took about 3 minutes (if that) to cross the bridge and bam! we were back in Quebec on our way up the coast.

We decided to drive another 3.25 hours and stay at Perce for 2 days.  That way tomorrow (Monday) we can be tourists for a day  without having to get in our car at all  😃  Tuesday we will drive from Perce to Gaspe and stay there Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.

Still not used the street lights yet.  Horizontal not vertical.

Stopped in at an informaton centre in New Richmond, to stretch our legs and do some internet searching of what to do in this area.  Decided to call the hotel in Perce that we wanted to stay at -- just in case they were filling up faster than we can drive there.  Sure enough, they only had one room on the third floor left (that we were looking to get.. higher room nicer view of Perce rock).  The receptionist said they would hold the room til 6 pm for us... thankfully the speed limits are higher here .. we got there with time to spare!

Beautiful hotel!!  It won the 4 -Diamond rating this year!!   Staff is supper friendly and helpful.
Next post will be about the hotel.. lots of pictures
